Roller skating history

Roller skating history
Roller skating is a very good way of relaxing, and its history is starting sometimes in the 18th century. Much information on this first usage aren't provided and we don't know the name of the person that created the skates, all we know is that it were used on a performance on a stage. But also in the middle of the 18th century, John Joseph Merlin was the one that succeeded inventing the first pair of roller skates, with an inline form of the position of the wheels. The wheels were made from metal and usually were composed by 4 wheels. The Belgium had this idea after the form of the ice skates, but he wanted to be able to use them when the weather was warmer.
In the 1863 the quad skate was invented. It is formed by 2 pairs of wheels, put on parallel sides, and in total there are 4 wheels. The great achievement of this type of skates is that their user could make also a curve, and not move around only in a line direction. This was possible because this type of skates had a different system, which used a pivoting action, which allowed the user of the sates to easy turn. For this moment new and new creators tried to improve the design. For example, soon after that, in 1876 an English man created a new type of wheels. The same wheels were used on skateboards. In the same year, someone had the idea to invent a mechanism that allowed the user to stop in the moment that he wanted. The toe stop was invented, and we even use the same technique today.
In the end of the 19th century roller skating was so loved, that mass production started. A company from Louisiana was one of the first to produce them. Someone had the idea to use ball bearings, made from steel, which will allow gaining speed more rapidly. Because skate racing had much success, professional roller skates were made, and he used mostly the quad slate design. In 1979, 2 persons from Minnesota had the idea to reinvent the design of the inline skates. They attached ice skating boots, to be more comfortable, and also used some new materials that were used at that time. This was the moment when the quad skates were old fashioned and everyone wanted a pair of inline skates.
